THE BIG BEAUTIFUL BREAKUP – BBB
In the middle of Trump’s effort to pass his BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL [BBB], we are suddenly treated with another BBB – the Big Beautiful Breakup between Trump and Musk.
In our global, interconnected world this spectacular fallout between two awful men, has lit up the internet like a latter-day global warming wildfire. Everything they told the world yesterday that they admire and believe about one another, has publicly been denounced and disowned by them – and that is just the beginning.
Their feud has huge implications for the American Idea. For the belief in some basic honesty and consistency at the heart of the Trump Administration. Already we have reports of the most vulnerable in poor societies in the world suffering and actually dying due to the ruthless and inhumane summary termination of USAID. And make no mistake this was enabled by both these men.
This is not so much about the outcome of the breakup as it is what it exposes about human nature, having too much, and “power corrupting and absolute power corrupting absolutely”. It certainly is a seminal chapter in the story of the human race here at the end of the first quarter of the 21st century. A century which was supposedly going to be a manifestation of our elevated evolutionary status, if not in the universe, then at least on our own planet and in the long story of our species.
BIG BEAUTIFUL BUSTUP – BBB
Operation Barbarossa was the code name for the Nazi Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union, launched on June 22, 1941, during World War II. It was the largest military offensive in history, involving around 4 million soldiers. 84 years later a similarly epoch-making military offensive, OPERATION SPIDERWEB, took place on Russian soil. This time it was dominated by the advance of human ingenuity and AI, but still anchored in shrewd military strategy. Ukraine decimated more than a third of Russia’s long range bomber fleet, deployed to launch ballistic missiles and nuclear bombs, should they be required.
Another BBB – the BIG BEAUTIFUL BUSTUP. Ukraine blowing the Art-of-War up in one spectacular night, presaging the Big Beautiful Breakup in the gilded Trump Oval just days later.
The results were spectacular and it has rewritten the rules of how a full scale war is fought, and can be won. May President Zelenskyy and Ukraine prevail in the largest land war fought on European soil since the WW II, which was described by Donald Trump on Thursday as similar to two kids fighting …. AND YES, what the fuck is wrong with that man!
The conversation dominating the internet as I write this, is all about the world’s RICHEST MAN falling out with the world’s MOST POWERFUL MAN. It will be interesting to see whether Money or Power will prevail. They have gone nuclear on one another – an apt aphorism for our time. In an age of constant change, the most resilient are those who adapt their understanding of the world. This aphorism speaks to the need for agility and a willingness to learn and re-evaluate our beliefs in a rapidly evolving world – and then to pivot radically, erasing my yesterday to yield to my current launchpad. But only for now.
